Yes, Nathan Adrian Will Be Swimming In Minneapolis

When scouring the psych sheets for the upcoming Arena Pro Swim Series in Minneapolis scheduled for November 12th-14th, we noted that California Aquatics pro Nathan Adrian was surprisingly absent.  This was unexpected due to the fact that Adrian withdrew from the Doha and Dubai World Cup events, citing to SwimSwam his focus on his swims in Minneapolis instead.

With Adrian’s name missing from the psych sheet, SwimSwam dug a little deeper and has been told by Adrian’s camp that the defending Olympic 100m freestyle champion WILL be swimming in Minneapolis.  Adrian’s not being on the psych sheet was simply a product of the athlete having entered the meet late.

Until we see the updated psych sheets, we can only speculate as to Adrian’s events, but a safe supposition is that he will compete in his two signature freestyle events, the 50m and 100m.  Although, a 200 freestyle is not entirely out of the question, as Adrian slid that into his schedule at the 2014 Winter Nationals in December, albeit the meet was in yards.

With this first Arena Pro Swim Series meet being run in the long course meters format, the meet will serve as a FINA-approved competition where swimmers can achieve qualifying times for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Adrian most recently competed at the 2015 FINA World Championships where he finished 7th in the 100m freestyle (48.31), but earned the silver in the 50m freestyle, clocking  a new American Record (21.37) in the semifinals.

Hahahaha I was just thinking that! You can’t run from it on this website. Whatevs… that was my favorite moment from Worlds this year. There weren’t a ton of smiles from the US team, but that was about the best reaction you coulda asked for. Completely unashamed that he got a silver without Sun Yang there. Just ecstatic that he had a break through swim. Awesome moment, love reliving it.

SWIMSWAM!!! If you read this comment, please get rid of the auto-play or at least mute the auto-play of the video. I’m not sure why you guys haven’t fixed it yet. If you aren’t going to get rid of it, can we at least get an explanation for this?
