World Cup Berlin: German Sarah Köhler improved 30-year-old record

FINA WORLD CUP – BERLIN

Germany’s Sarah Köhler improved the more than 30-year-old 400m freestyle national record tonight: She finished second behind Mireia Bemonte in a time of 4:01,03 and improved the former record held by Astrid Strauß (4:02,05) for more than 1 second.

Sarah Köhler couldn’t manage to crack the high German World Championships qualification standards and couldn’t compete in Budapest.

She is the German record holder in the 800m free SC in 8:14,10 and she ranked on the 7th place at the 2016 Oympic Games and was one of only a few German finalists in Rio.
