Speedo Spotlight Speaker Andi Kawamoto-Klatt will be the keynote for WICC 2015. Kawamoto-Klatt is currently the Associate Head Age Group Coach at Irvine Nova Aquatics and will plan to speak about her vision of the sport and how she, and the coaches at NOVA, are moving toward that vision.
“Speedo has a long history of supporting the best swimmers and coaches in the sport and continues its commitment to coach education, training, and recognition by sponsoring a talk at the 2015 Women In Coaching Clinic” said clinic organizer Dana Kirk.
This is the fourth annual clinic organized by a group of California coaches including Dana Kirk (PASA), Laura Mitchell (PASA), Abi Liu (PEAK), and Tisha Stiemle (PASA). WICC organizers highlight the benefits of local clinics to provide female coaches with an opportunity to network, collaborate, address specific community topics, and discuss local and national trends in the sport.
“Our hope is that this clinic serves as a opportunity to explore what support and mentorship can look like, and how we can open doors for each other and for other women around us” said clinic organizer Laura Mitchell.
The 2015 clinic will feature a one and a half day format. Workshop formats range from presentations to in-the-water and on-deck sessions. Coaches will be given the opportunity to participate in coaching and teaching sessions with swimmers of all skill levels. A “learn to swim” track will parallel each workout session and is designed to explore the basics of stroke development for beginning swimmers.
Above all, the clinic will emphasize coach engagement. “This clinic will focus on making sure that those who attend the clinic leave with the feeling that they were as much an integral part of the clinic as the speakers and organizers; so come ready to participate!” said Kirk.

My name is Steimle, (it’s misspelled above) but I have to say I haven’t been able to be helpful to the clinic for the last couple years and the credit should really go to Dana and Laura for organizing this great clinic
