Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Isabella Schneider, a junior at Reading Memorial High School in Reading, Massachusetts, has announced her intention to continue her academic and swimming career at the University of Southern California.
“I’m so excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Southern California! I want to thank my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for all of their support and for helping me get to where I am today. I also want to thank the amazing USC coaches and team. Can’t wait to be part of the Trojan Family in 2024! FIGHT ON!”
Schneider trains year-round with Phoenix Swimming in Haverhill, Mass. A Summer Juniors qualifier, she was invited to attend USA Swimming’s 2022 National Diversity Select Camp at the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
Primarily a backstroker, Schneider recently won five events at the 2023 Speedo Sectional meet in West Fargo, North Dakota. Those included the LCM 100 back (1:04.70, although she earned a PB of 1:04.55 leading off the relay), 200 back (2:16.54, PB), 100 fly (1:02.40, PB), 200 IM (2:22.05), and 400 IM (5:00.53, PB). She also placed third in the 200 fly (2:21.60, PB), ninth in the 50 free (27.90, PB), and 11th in the 100 free (58.93, PB).
Most of her best SCY times come from the 2022 New England Senior Championships last December, where she won the 400 IM and was a top-8 finisher in the 100 free, 100/200 back, 100/200 fly, and 200 IM.
Best SCY times:
- 200 back – 1:59.35
- 100 back – 55.57
- 400 IM – 4:21.07
- 200 IM – 2:03.58
- 200 fly – 2:02.84
- 100 fly – 55.88
Schneider will join Sarasota Sharks freestyler Addison Sauickie in the Trojans’ class of 2028. She told SwimSwam, “I chose USC because it felt like home. The staff, coaches, and team were so incredibly welcoming and I cannot wait to be part of the Trojan family. USC also has so many amazing opportunities and resources for both academics and athletics which is absolutely perfect for a student-athlete.”
The USC women’s swimming and diving team were runners-up at the 2023 Pac-12 Conference Championships; they finished 12th in the team standings at the 2023 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships.

Objectively the wrong college choice. Crazy how these kids don’t do research or read the comments on Lea Maurer…
She’ll get exactly what she is used to in terms of coaching.
Coach Tom sounds salty.
Nope, always happy to see a great kid get into a great school. Just saying that the Swimswam comments on Maurer paint her as a bit of an uncaring misanthrope, which shouldn’t be much of an issue for a kid who was coached by a guy who publicly laments Teri’s McKeever’s firing and says stuff like this about the Cal Women’s team:
lolz
How to say you’re a parent of a kid who was cut, without saying you’re a parent of a kid who was cut.
Reading SS comments is a critical part of the college choice process. One might say the most important
Right, I’m definitely the parent of a kid who was cut lmao
Actually these kids are smart enough to get to know the program, school, and coaches well enough to not pay attention to ridiculous comments like these.
cRaZy hOw tHeSe KiDs DoNt dO ReSeArCh
This kid – outside of her own intelligence and work ethic – is surrounded by incredible support from her family and coaches (which it seems like this particular team has been a conveyor belt the last few years to big schools).
So either you don’t know her in which case your opinion is oBjEcTiVelY trash.
Or you do know her. You know she’s better than you. And you’re jealous. Which makes you an ObJeCtIvElY trash human being.
How about you remember that Isabella (who I know personally) is a kid who just made one of the biggest decisions of her young life. She doesn’t need you or anyone else (especially those who don’t know her) weighing in on the choice she made to continue her education and swimming career at USC. And honestly…think before you post comments like this that directed at a 17 year old kid.
Let’s gooooo
Coached her at camp. Beautiful stroke, and motivated to be at the top!
