Winter Nationals Qualifier Andrew Kelley Commits to Villanova Wildcats

Belmont High School senior Andrew Kelley has committed to swim for Villanova University in the fall of 2016. Kelley competed for Belmont High his freshman and sophomore years; he was the Division 2 State champion in the 100 back as a sophomore.

Kelley swims for Shamrock Swim Club in Milton, Massachusetts, with whom he qualified for the 2015 AT&T Winter Nationals in the 100 LCM backstroke. He swam a lifetime-best 58.05 at the meet and placed within the top 50.

Kelley’s best SCY times are as follows:

  • 100 free: 47.91
  • 500 free: 4:45.92
  • 100 back: 50.66
  • 200 back: 1:49.15
  • 200 IM: 1:56.01

Kelley’s top times in the 100 and 200 backstrokes would have earned him second and third place overall at the 2015 Big East conference championships, and would have been last season’s top swims for the Wildcats.

“I chose Villanova because it was the perfect fit for me both academically and athletically. With the combination of its outstanding team and coaching staff, I’m extremely excited to swim for Villanova in the fall! Go Wildcats!”
