Hanani Dona announced her commitment in December to swim and study at the U.S. Air Force Academy beginning during the 2022-2023 school year.

Dona swims for SwimMAC Carolina out of Charlotte, North Carolina. She has had a very successful year, both short course and long course. At the beginning of March, she set best short course times in the 200 backstroke (2:01.58), 200 breaststroke (2:21.32), 100 (55.59) and 200 (2:03.28) butterflys, as well as 200 (2:04.95) and 400 (4:21.80) IMs. Her 400 IM improved on her Winter Juniors qualifying time.
In July, she earned best long course times in the 200 backstroke (2:22.75), 200 breaststroke (2:46.75), 100 (1:05.21) and 200 (2:22.74) butterflys, and 200 (2:23.59) and 400 (5:05.68) IMs.
Dona will begin her senior year this fall at Lake Norman High School in Mooresville, North Carolina.
Her best short course times are:
- 200 IM: 2:04.95
- 400 IM: 4:21.80
- 200 backstroke: 2:01.58
- 100 butterfly: 55.59
- 200 butterfly: 2:03.28
- 200 breaststroke: 2:21.32
U.S. Air Force Academy is located north of Colorado Springs, Colorado. The women’s team is a member of the Mountain West Conference.
Dona has the potential to make an immediate impact at the conference level for Air Force. At the 2021 Mountain West Conference Championships, based on her best times, she would have placed in the A final of the 400 IM, 200 backstroke, 100 and 200 butterflys as well as the B final of the 200 IM.
Dona will arrive at Air Force next fall in 2022 as a member of the class of 2026 along with Lola Beams and Kaitlyn Surratt.
