Completing the triple, Benjamin Lin of Williams swam to his third win of the meet with a victory in the 200 back. One of several outstanding members of the D3 class of 2017, Lin swam a 1:44.00 for a huge win in the race. 2nd place went to Denison’s Jackson Lindell at 1:45.32, another senior, while Tufts sophomore Kingsley Bowen went 1:46.33 for 3rd.
SPLITS
24.15 49.89 (25.74) 1:16.34 (26.45) 1:44.00 (27.66)
Lin had a massive drop of 2.22 seconds from his prelims time. He was out incredibly fast at 49.89, out way ahead of the rest of the field, and held on for a lifetime best by almost two full seconds. This was only his third time under the 1:46 mark, and he nearly went full past 1:44 altogether.
Finishing an illustrious career at Williams, Lin won the 100 back and 100 fly already in the competition– his 200 back win was his third of the weekend. Lin also swam on Williams’ 800 free relay, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, and 200 free relay. He’s the D3 record holder in the 100 backstroke with his 46.62 from his title-winning race yesterday.
