The Williams Baptist College swim program competed in a double dual on Friday evening. This was the first ever meet for the Eagles swim program. The women’s team split, beating host University of the Ozarks (93-37), while falling 125-43 to Tabor College. The men’s team dropped both duals, losing 161-118 to Ozarks, and 198-86 to Tabor.

They were asked to compete in some tough events, and each one came through with great personal performances. A big thank you to all the family members that were able to come and support the WBC swimmers in their first ever meet,” said Head Coach Lee Moore.
Hannah Vernon led the Lady Eagles by winning one race, while finishing second in two others. She won the 100 yard backstroke race, finishing in a time of 1:17. The transfer finished in second in the 50 yard freestyle, finishing less than a second behind first place with a time of 27 seconds. In her final event (100 yard freestyle), she finished three seconds behind first place with a time of 1:01.
Claire Shepherd competed in three events for the WBC. She finished in second in the 1,000 yard freestyle swim with a time of 15:26. Next, she placed third in the 100 yard butterfly and 100 yard backstroke. She finished in 1:45 in the butterfly and 1:40 in the backstroke.
Julie Foster finished in second place in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:28, while she finished in third place in both the 500 yard freestyle (7:03) and the 200 yard individual medley (2:50).
Olivia Shepherd also competed in three events. She swam the 200 yard freestyle, 50 yard freestyle, and 100 yard breaststroke. In the 200 yard freestyle, she finished in third place with a time of 2:57. She finished fourth in the 100 yard brackstroke, and fifth in the 50 yard freestyle.
The men were led by A.J. Rogers who finished in second place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.35 seconds. He was .06 seconds from first place. He also finished third in the 500 yard freestyle (8:22), and fourth in the 100 yard freestyle (59.91).
Alex Mason finished with two third place finishes (200 yard individual medley and 100 yard breaststroke), and one sixth place finish (50 yard freestyle). He finished the individual medley with a time of 3:25, and finished the breaststroke in 1:27.
Seth Haile finished the men’s 100 yard backstroke in 1:29, placing third in the event. He finished his other two events in sixth place (200 yard freestyle) and eighth (100 yard freestyle).
The next event for the water Eagles will be on Oct. 27, at Hendrix College for the Hendrix Relays.
