Tufts had a narrow lead heading into day 3 of NESCACs. After day 3, Williams now leads by 7.5 points.
200 Medley Relay
- Williams (1:41.35)
- Bowdoin (1:41.96)
- Bates (1:43.07)
Williams tried to close the gap on Tufts right away, winning the 200 medley relay in 1:41.35. That time earned them a NESCAC, meet, school, and pool record. Samantha Kilcoyne swam a huge butterfly leg as she swam the fastest split of the field by almost a second. Tufts finished fourth in 1:43.47.
1000 Freestyle
- Lillie Bushway, Williams (10:08.94)
- Katie Shelburne, Tufts (10:12.73)
- Chloe Katz, Middlebury (10:14.13)
Williams and Tufts went in a head-to-head battle here for the 1000. Lillie Bushway came out on top winning in 10:08.94. Shelburne led through the first 500, but Bushway had a strong second 500 to come out on top. She also set a pool record.
400 IM
- Molly Craig, Williams (4:22.57)
- Abby Claus, Tufts (4:24.37)
- Megan Lee, Amherst (4:24.99)
Tufts made up huge ground retaking the lead with four swimmers in the A final going 2-4-6-7. Molly Craig of Williams won the event in a new pool record of 4:22.57.
100 Butterfly
- Samantha Kilcoyne, Williams (54.09)
- Mary Laurita, Tufts (55.16)
- Andrea Higgins, Connecticut (55.48)
Samantha Kilcoyne was just off of her time from prelims, but still won the 100 butterfly in commanding fashion. Amanda Higgins of Connecticut College touched third in a school record of 55.48. Tufts expanded on their lead as they went 2-6-7-8 in the event.
200 Freestyle
- Mary Hufziger, Tufts (1:48.26)
- Claire Brennan, Tufts (1:48.73)
- Grace Wenger, Bates (1:49.41)
Tufts teammates Hufziger and Brennan were side by side throughout the race. Hufziger came out on top, winning in 1:48.26. That time was also a pool record.
100 Breaststroke
- Amanda Wager, Williams (1:01.68)
- Charlotte Wishnack, Williams (1:02.44)
- Abigail Gibbons, Bates (1:03.05)
Williams picked up much needed points from Wager and Wishnack who went 1-2 in the event. Wager’s time set a pool record. Tufts did not have anyone in the A final.
100 Backstroke
- Sophia Verkleeren, Williams (54.89)
- Sophie Cassily, Bates (55.23)
- Ella Martin, Bowdoin (55.27)
Williams went 1-6-7 in the event to help get the lead back over Tufts who only placed 8th in the A final. Verkleeren was third coming into finals but dropped over half of a second to win in a pool record time of 54.89.

A JUMBO UPSET
Tonight is going to be a barnburner as Tufts set themselves up well this morning, but not an insurmountable amount, so if the Williams team performs tonight like they did last night they could eek this one out.
Been a great meet. Pretty proud of those Polar Bears too, their front end has been impressive.
The depth of the conference has really been on display all meet with some really great performances coming from all teams. I think at least 7 teams should have swimmers at NCAAs and most of them having relays as well.
By my calculation every team except Wesleyan has an individual swimmer with a good shot at making the meet and 8 teams (Williams, Tufts, Amherst, Bates, Bowdoin, Middlebury, Conn, and Colby) have shots at relays.
