See two views of Stanford freshman Simone Manuel breaking the American Record in the women’s 100 yard freestyle on Saturday at the 2014 Art Adamson Invitational: one from deck-level, and one from above.
Manuel’s last 25, from both views, shows the power she’s able to gain from her 5’10” frame. It’s a stroke like hers in the last 12 meters that might have first elicited the phrasing of “dropping the hammer” as she’s absolutely pounding the water.
Her final time was 46.62, which broke her own American Record of 46.75, but just missed Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace’s all-time best of 46.61. Read more about her record-breaking swim here. Watch the videos below.
