Watch Race Videos From UT Orange and White Meet

The Texas men just had their annual Orange and White intrasquad meet, with the competition coming down to the last relay and the Orange team securing the victory. The whole team threw on suits, and it showed. There was some serious speed thrown down at the Lee and Joe Jamail Swimming Center, highlighted by John Shebat‘s double victory in the 100 back (46.3) and 200 IM (1:44.3). For the freshman  UT Freshman, who were SwimSwam’s #1 recruiting class in the nation, this marked their first meet as longhorns.

Rumor on the swim deck is that Shebat is going to dive the 1M springboard this year for his 3rd event.

Excuse me for asking, but why are they wearing tech suits at an intra-squad meet?

Because throwing on suits adds to the atmosphere of swimming fast. They work so hard. If feels good to go fast once in a while. It worked. They threw down sons very fast times for September.

Yeah, but it’s still one team and one meet. It would have been nice of SwimSwam to include all of the Longhorns.

Anyone have complete results? The Texas website doesn’t.

Forgive me if i’m wrong, but i do believe Andrew Koustik went a personal best in the 200 fly by .22, very good sign for what’s to come this season if so

In 200 fly, freshman A. Koustik 1.43:47, impressive for early in season.

Great turnover for the whole 200. Made it look easy.

These times are very impressive… are results from the whole meet available?

Agreed, very fast times. But this is the Texas MO. They often post their fastest times of the first semester in at this Orange/White meet in September. Then they get CRUSHED in October/November, and Townley will be going 1:37-38 in dual meets and everyone will say “what’s wrong with Texas?” . . . and then in March they will win NCAAs again. Book it

I also wouldn’t underestimate the willingness and ability of Eddie Reese to alter his plans. Last year, the team looked particularly ‘crushed’ in season, and a big chunk of them didn’t swim that well at NCAAs, in spite of the overall team win. I wouldn’t be surprised to see their plan change a little this season.

Dang.. .15 off Krueger’s best time, quick early season speed!
