Some of the top names in the sport converged over the weekend at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre for the second of three legs of the 2022 FINA World Cup circuit in Toronto, and when you bring that much talent together, there is bound to be some exceptional performances.
That was particularly true on the women’s side, where we saw seven-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky smash the 1500 free world record by nearly 10 seconds in a time of 15:08.24 (watch that race here), along with two-time world champion Summer McIntosh edge out Ledecky in the 400 free in a race that two of the three fastest times ever.
Later in the meet, McIntosh broke a second World Junior Record in the women’s 400 IM, clocking 4:21.49 to down the previous record of 4:23.33 set by China’sΒ Ye Shiwen in 2012.
You can watch McIntosh’s 400 IM record swim below. However, the video will only be available to Canadian users due to CBC Sports’ geo-restrictions.
