A few thoughts:
1. I feel sorry for that anchor swimmer from Sweden! As an age-group coach I was always careful not to put the slowest person last for that reason. Ouch! Great job Federica!
2. There are a LOT of countries with terrific 800 free relays right now!
3. This is becoming the Hosszu and Sjostrom show! The two of them are in amazing shape for this meet!
4. This year Europeans seem to be at least equal if not more competitive than Pan Pac’s. It seems like many European nations have much more depth than they used to (Hungary, Sweden, Denmark).
5. Why couldn’t we have used one of the indoor pools in Australia for Pan Pac’s?! 🙁

super impressive relay splits! Feel bad I wrote off Sjoestrom as a suit swimmer in 2009, she really has proven herself as one of the best
I think she had the benefit of being 16 at the time, so while she may have reached incredible heights in 2009 that she could not have come close to without the floating suits, another 5 years of hard work has taken her to new heights.
