MEN’S 200 IM
- Caeleb Dressel – 2:01.98
- Mark Szaranek – 2:03.12
- Santi Corredor – 2:05.49
Caeleb Dressel, the American record holder in the short course version of the race, went 2:01.98 in finals after going 2:07.68 in prelims. He split 25.68/32.30/36.20/27.80 for the win. His University of Florida teammate Mark Szaranek took second in 2:03.12 (26.44/32.54/35.75/28.39). 18-year-old Santi Corredor, also a Florida Gator, took third in 2:05.49.
18-year-old Andrew Winton was just behind him in 2:05.60, and 22-year-old James Guest followed in 2:05.71. Also under 2:06 was Eltan Yudashkin in 2:05.93.
It would be interesting to see the splits as 2 x 100 IMs — the 1st half and the 2nd half of each 50. Caeleb would have the fastest 100 coming off the walls, but place 3rd or 4th for 100 built up by the 2nd 25s.
I explained that horribly, I know.
It’s like what would his 100Im scm be vs what would his 100im be in a 100 meter pull be with no push off on the start right?
No underwaters of his last wall. He must be fried.
fried chicken
wow once again dressel with about a 23 second gain. At least he’s not in peak condition right now
I don’t think you could make it any more obvious that you’re trolling
Um a 23 second gain would mean he was 1:38 long course you see anyone go a 1:38 long course?
It’s a joke people
@bon jovi – this is another example of why I come to the swimswam comment board – 10/10
The best trolls walk the line between joking and sincerity. I think your like/dislike ratio says you’ve done the job remarkably well.
appreciate it

Going to be an exciting race dressel / Kalisz / lochte this summer in 200IM.
I remember in 2011 lochte went 1.50 and 2.00 (200free and IM) 4 weeks out from Shanghai (arguably his best meet ever) excited to see what dressel goes in 200free and 200im this summer. A lot is set up the same for dressel as lochte, lochte finished college in 2006 went to SC worlds then dropped at pan pacs 2006 (1.56.1 I think ) had a full year of been pro to Melbourne and then onto Beijing. Dressel following same suit pans pacs and World SC in (Dec) where he should destroy world records (as lochte did in 2006 -100/200bk + 200im) and then… Read more »
Still think he wins the 50 free easily, but he has to have in the back of his mind his loss to Proud in the 50 fly at Worlds —- small mistakes get amplified in such a short race. Considering he says he didn’t train sprint free until the very last minute leading up to his 17.9 at NCAAS, I’d say he’s the favorite by a long shot.
Agree 5ith the analogy except that Lochte was training up to the 400 IM, and the 200 back is a leg killer. Dressel’s training up to a 200 IM/200 free.
