If you didn’t see early today, we posted a video of Dean Farris going 28.7 in a 75 free with fins from a push in practice. Well, we’ve already seen another NCAA freestyle ace fire back, as LSU’s Brooks Curry finned-up today in practice and ripped a 75 of his own, touching at 28.6. Curry’s teammate, Jack Jannasch, touched just behind at 29.0.
Alright people, here’s our call to action: how fast can we get this 75 down to? 27? 25?!? Send us your videos of 75 with fins in practice – we want to see them. DM us @swimswamnews on Instagram and maybe we will post yours!
Dressel had to FLIP in about 29.3 or so to go 39.9 in the 100 free. He did have a dive, but he did not have fins on
Dean just cruising in the middle of a set v. Curry trying to bear what Dean did. Kind of meh.
Ok so first off… I believe the first video showed Dean Farris going 28.7 in a pool full of people and it looked like he was unaware that he was being timed. Brooks Curry is in a lane by himself and knew he was being timed.
Secondly, not all fins are created equally.
I’m guessing that there will be more and more of these vids posted soon!
SwimSwam should lay down the rules.
MA tried it, but split 30 on the last 50
so he got a 35
I did a :36 with fins a few weeks ago, I’m ready for my article! I’ll even sit down for Coleman to do an hour long interview about my successful training methods.
In like a 50 or what?
Ha! Nah, it was a legit 75. Totally gassed by the end and would’ve pulled a MA 200 IM free leg if I’d had to make it a 100, but that’s neither here nor there.
corny
Why is this a “thing?” Is swimming 75’s with fins really an effective training technique? If so, for what?
For fun? It’s fun to swim fast. Fins make you swim fast. Ergo, fins are fun.
This the same guy who was 18.7 in practice but didn’t break 19 at mid season?
His teammate in the video was also “19.3” in practice but couldn’t break 20 at mid season
Easy to do it when you put the bulkhead at the 22 yard mark
