Watch All the World Record Swims from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics

2020 TOKYO SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES

Six world records were broken at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. USA’s Caeleb Dressel and South Africa’s Tatjana Schoenmaker were the only two swimmers to have broke an individual world record. Dressel lowered his own record by 0.05 seconds to win the men’s 100 fly. Schoenmaker took down Rikke Moller Pedersen’s 8 year old record in the 200 breast, setting a new benchmark of 2:18.95.

The remaining records were set during relays. The US men broke the 4×100 medley relay during the final race of the meet. They swam out of lane 1 and held off Great Britain for the gold medal. Great Britain smashed the WR in the mixed 4×100 medley relay earlier in the meet. The Chinese women set a new world record in the 4×200 free relay and the Australians broke their own world record in the women’s 4×100 free.

Schoenmaker’s first name is Tatjana, not Tijana.
