Washington State Finalist Grace Morgan Commits to UW-Green Bay

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Distance specialist and Washington high school state finalist Grace Morgan of Edmonds, Washington has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay for this fall. Morgan swims for West Coast Aquatics and attends Meadowdale High School.

Morgan is coming off a season in which she saw large improvement in many of her main races. At the Pacific Northwest Swimming Senior Championships last December she swam best times in both the 200 free (1:57.40) and 500 free (5:10.47). Her time in the 500 marked a 4 second improvement from her previous best time. This January she added a new best time in the 1000 free at the Washington Open, clocking a time of 10:42.48.

Top SCY Times

  • 200 free – 1:57.40
  • 500 free – 5:10.47
  • 1000 free – 10:42.48
  • 1650 free – 18:03.79

Green Bay finished 6th at the 2020 Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships, narrowly edging out Youngstown State. They were coached this season by interim head coach Eddie Gillie, who was promoted following former head coach Reed Robelot’s resignition last summer.

Morgan would have narrowly missed qualifying for finals in her main events. It took a 5:06.12/17:50.02 to place top-16 in the 500 free and 1650 free. She also will play an important role on the 800 free relay. Her best time would have ranked her second on the team last season.

Last spring Green Bay announced that they would be discontinueing tuition wavers for both the men’s and woman’s swim teams, effectively cutting all scholarships from both programs.
