VILLANOVA, Pa – The VMI women’s water polo team won one of two matches Sunday at the Villanova University Swim Complex.
VMI opened the day with a 16-15 win against Gannon University behind six goals, one assist and two steals from Sydney Shettleroe. Catherine Ahumada had four goals and two assists while Makenna Moore had a hat trick. Maddie Berry recorded a goal and two assists and Rachel Ahumada had a goal, an assist and four steals. Genevieve Petrassi handed out five assists.
VMI suffered a tight 12-11 loss to Salem University (W. Va.), a team that had beaten the Keydets 18-10 last weekend.
Rachel Ahumada paced a balanced VMI offense with three goals and two assists and Kiara Anguiano had three goals and an assist. Catherine Ahumada posted two goals and three assists, Makenna Moore had two goals, an assists and two steals and Zoe Salafatinos had a goal. Petrassi had two assists.
VMI (3-3) will travel to Salem, W. Va. next Sunday to face the host school and Gannon.
