The defending NCAA Champion Arizona State Sun Devil men’s swimming & diving team will take on a deep schedule that includes some of the best programs in the country next season.
Highlights of the team’s schedule include a late-October road trip to NC State, hosting Cal and Stanford two weeks later, back to North Carolina for the NC State Invitational, and then the big one: a two-day quad meet with Virginia, NC State, and Texas in Austin on January 24th and 25th.
That will be the first opportunity for the Sun Devils to face their former head coach Bob Bowman, who takes over as Director of Swimming at Texas for the 2024-2025 season.
Even without knowing who else will be at the NC State Invitational, that sets up a gauntlet of a schedule for ASU in its first year under new head coach Herbie Behm, who was promoted from associate head coach last season.
2024-2025 Arizona State Opponents Who Scored at NCAAs Last Year

#5 NC State (x3) | #2 Texas |
#7 Texas |
#9 NC State (x3)

#17 Virginia | #11 Cal |
#20 Minnesota | #20 Minnesota |
#27 Arizona (x2) |
The Arizona State men won the program’s first-ever NCAA team title last season, though the core of that team has all departed. Leon Marchand (60 points, 3 individual NCAA titles, 1 relay title) turned pro and is training with Bowman in Texas; Hubert Kos (48 points) is transferring to Texas as a member of the varsity; and Owen McDonald (46 points) is transferring to swim with his younger brother at Indiana.
David Schlicht, their 4th-highest scorer at NCAAs, is out of eligibility.
Ultimately, that all means the torch falls for sophomore Ilya Kharun, who scored 44 points as a rookie at last year’s NCAA Championships and won the national title in the 200 fly.
The Arizona State women finished 23rd at last year’s NCAA Championship meet and will lose US National Teamer Lindsay Looney next season as she has exhausted her eligibility.

Another 4th place coming up for “4th Place Braden”
This has been mentioned before. Schlicht should not have another year.

2022 junior NCs at ASU
2023 senior NCs at ASU
2024 5th year NCs at ASU.

NC State and UVA men having a mid off
Andrew you are slipping. Your comment is not up to your usual low level trash talk. Are you ok?
The Andrew NC State slander after this meet will be maddening
Not just for nc state …
NCSU will win the men’s side
Big 12 Championships in Washington is certainly a choice
And in Greensboro the next year and WVU the year following based on what I heard. Crazy.
My guess is that there were some contracts that needed to be fulfilled and this was the easiest way to accomplish that.
sounds right when conferences implode
Virginia will place first on the women’s side by a landslide and last on the men’s side by a landslide
Well, they did beat Texas in a dual meet last year and they’re bringing back Aikins, keeping Nichols, adding Spencer Nicholas and David King, so maybe not. But haters are gonna hate, it’s inevitable.
