SwimSwam caught up with Caitlin Leverenz over the weekend at the Arena Pro Swim Series at Orlando to talk everything from the 400 IM to her recent marriage to training alongside a college program.
You can watch the full interview above – it’s packed with notable tidbits from Leverenz, including the hybrid training trip/honeymoon she’ll be taking with her husband.
Of note: Leverenz says she’s putting a big emphasis on training her freestyle, and Cal Aquatics has designed an interesting regimen. Leverenz says the team has a rotating platoon of swimmer who switch off training with current Cal freshman Cierra Runge, a monster of a distance swimmer.
Training with Runge seems to be paying off for Leverenz, who went a lifetime-best in the 200 free over the weekend.

The rotating freestyle sets with Runge have really paid off. She should consider doing the same with Coughlin, Pelton, Bootsma for her backstroke, which is her only remaining “weaker” stroke left now.
