Louisville’s Kelsi Worrell is having a dream week so far, setting the American 100 fly record twice in one day while also putting up the two fastest 50 fly relay splits in history.
Making the victory that much sweeter for the Louisville Cardinal is that her performances at last summer’s U.S. National meet were affected by a bout with mono. Worrell talks about that in the interview above, plus how she handled the pressure of entering tonight’s final with the top seed and American record.
Most notably: Worrell said she still sees plenty of room for improvement in that race, even after putting up the first two sub-50 second swims in history.

ODIAPA!!!!!
Mono is also known as glandular fever in some other English-speaking countries.
She has an amazing season.
First woman under 50 and twice on the same day, WOW!
Can’t wait to see what she has in store in long course next summer.
USA needs someone in 56 in Rio to win the medley relay. Kendyl Stewart? Kelsi Worrell? Katie McLaughlin?
Going a 59.1 in LCM 100 fly with Mono is pretty damn impressive. A year later, and Kelsi has dropped a second off her SCY time. Healthy and in shape, I could see her going in the 57s this summer, setting her up perfectly for 2016.
