VIDEO: Gregg Troy talks about the battle for the last few Florida travel squad spots in weekly press conference

In his weekly press conference, Florida coach Gregg Troy talked about his team’s crushing wins against SEC opponent Auburn.

Troy, who’s led both the men’s and women’s programs to the #3 spots in our midseason power rankings, talked about some of the big performances from his swimmers on senior night, and also about the inter-team competition for the last few spots on the SEC travel squads.

Troy did reveal that several swimmers on the travel squad bubble suited up for the Auburn dual to help inform the final roster decisions. Troy singled out sophomore Ryan Rosenbaum as a swimmer who greatly helped his cause. Rosenbaum went 9:02.19 to win the 1000 free over teammate Arthur Frayler.

Troy continues to impress. An exciting season so far and it is early in the season. Hope they Hit their taper. I know the butterfly group will be a dominant force, but it doesn’t seem like Matt Elliot has been as impressive in taking over the breaststroke group as he should have.

Does anyone know why Georgia Hohmann is not swimming for the gators this season?

swimmer24 – unclear, and there’s nothing to say that she couldn’t still start. There are a number of reasons why an international could be held out the first year, some of which are competitive and some of which are compliance-related. Florida hasn’t commented on it, though.

Off topic but why comments off in the article about Matthew Hirschberger who goes to NCAP?

My guess is that some of the comments were getting too derogatory about his previous coach, just as they were with the story about Becca Mann going to NBAC.

That is correct. The CAT parents couldn’t behave themselves, so we were forced to turn off comments.

Ok. That’s a good reason.
I wish him the best at NCAP. He’s a real talent.

To be fair, a couple were former CAT parents who were not behaving. Best wishes to both sides.
