Bowling Green snagged a recruit out of Michigan when they garnered a commitment from Portage Aquatic Club’s Anna Griesbach. Whether it is backstroke or butterfly, Griesbach should contribute to the Falcons in one of those two strokes:
- 100 backstroke- 59.39
- 200 backstroke- 2:06.08
- 100 butterfly- 58.31
- 200 butterfly- 2:11.54
- 200 freestyle- 1:56.70
Griesbach was a finalist the last two years at the Michigan State Division 2 Championships in the 100 butterfly for Portage Central High School.
Her greatest scoring potential for the Falcons will likely be the 200 backstroke. It took 2:03.37 at the 2015 MAC Championship to make it into the top sixteen. Bowling Green had three scorers in that event last year, including two in the A-Final. All three of those swimmers should still be on campus by the time Griesbach arrives, so she will have good training competition to look up to.
Despite the fact that they only sponsor women’s swimming, Bowling Green has the benefit of a top notch facility. They have a 50 meter by 25 yard pool and they use that facility to carry a significant roster. Chances are they are banking on Griesbach’s potential to get on the squad and develop into a MAC scorer for them down the road.
