Alexis Preski from the Academy Bullets Swim Club has verbally committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Preski has a very unique skill set. She’s a summer Junior Nationals qualifier in the 500, 1000, and 1650 yard frees. She’s also a Junior Nationals qualifier in the 100 and 200 breaststroke; the 200 IM and the 400 IM; but only the 200 fly, and not the 100 fly.
In short: she has a skill set that could lead her in a lot of directions, but all signs point to her potential as a phenomenal 400 IM’er.
Preski’s best times in yards:
- 500 free – 4:48.95
- 1000 free – 9:58.51
- 1650 free – 16:26.78
- 100 back – 58.00
- 200 back – 2:03.36
- 100 breast – 1:03.08
- 200 breast – 2:16.85
- 100 fly – 57.49
- 200 fly – 2:01.37
- 200 IM – 2:02.80
- 400 IM – 4:14.62
In the last few years, the Alabama Crimson Tide women have had a pile of historical performances as part of their recent rise toward the top half of the SEC, and their IM group has been a big part of that. Mia Nonnenberg set school records in both the 200 IM (1:58.12) and 400 IM (4:09.03) last year as only a freshman; Kaylin Burchell and Karolina Szczepaniak both moved into the top 4 in program history in the 200 and 400 IM’s, respectively.
The distance freestyles haven’t had quite the same rise, however, and Preski’s best times would already rank her in the program’s top 5 of all-time.
As such, Preski simultaneously fills a hole in the distance freestyles, and joins a training group that has a history of success with the IM’ers.
Congrats Lexi… pretty damn good on a soccer field too. I’ll be cheering for ya.
Great family! Great competitor! Congratulations on your decision and moving on to the next chapter. Can’t wait to see where you go from here!
She is also an Olympic Trial Qualifier in the 400 IM with a time of 4:54.19.
Congrats Alexis!! Your hard work is paying off!!
