Vermont Women Set Four Pool Records, Continue To Lead Harold Anderson Invitational

KINGSTON, RI – Catamounts continued their dominance on day two of the Harold Anderson Invitational winning six of seven women’s swimming events and claiming four Tootell Aquatic Center records in Kingston, RI. Natalie Schlemmer also helped UVM record a first year record. Vermont leads the pack after two days with a score of 591 with URI just behind at 553 overall points. Holy Cross rounds out the top three with 455 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Catamounts continued their hot start at the Harold Anderson Invitational taking home the 200 medley relay in a Tootell Aquatic Center record. The combination of Autumn Bullinger, Natalie Schlemmer, Hally Laney and Mina Poppas finished in a time of 1:44.74.
  • Bullinger also finished second in the 100 backstroke in a time of 56.82 continuing her strong start at the Harold Anderson Invitational.
  • Schlemmer cruised through the 400 IM finishing with a Tootell Aquatic Center and Vermont first year record time of 4:24.26 a full eight seconds ahead of the field.
  • Laney continued her dominance 2022-23 campaign claiming a Tootell Aquatic Center record in the 100 butterfly finishing in a time of 55.74 finishing a half second ahead of the field.
  • In the 200 freestyle the Catamounts continued to cruise with a top three sweep. Poppas took home first place in a time of 1:50.72 while Jackie House finished second in a time of 1:51.37. Ella Church rounded out the top three and completed the UVM sweep finishing just behind House in a time of 1:51.82.
  • Jackie House, Ella Church, Dayle Snively and Mina Poppas capped off the strong day two for Vermont with a Tootell Aquatic Center record in the 800 freestyle. The combination of House, Church, Snively and Poppas finished in a time of 7:31.26 a full nine seconds ahead of the field.

UP NEXT
The Catamounts will continue with the Harold Anderson Invitational tomorrow (Sunday, Nov. 20) with the preliminary events beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the finals event starting at 3 p.m. Vermont will compete in the 100 and 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 400 freestyle relay.
