van Rouwendaal and Kudashev Break Competition Records in Amsterdam

Sharon van Rouwendaal and Aleksander Kudashev closed out the Amsterdam Cup by setting new meet records.

van Rouwendaal, who broke the 400 freestyle record on Saturday evening, posted a 8:33.42 winning the 800 freestyle by over 16 seconds.

Kudashev won the 200 butterfly in a time of 1:56.84.

In the short course pool Inge Dekker has been setting lifetime bests on a regular basis, something that she repeated today in the 50 butterfly in the long course pool. Dekker took the event in a time of 25.13 beating her previous best of 25.56 which she swam earlier this year.

She was followed by Ranomi Kromowidjojo who posted a 25.98 and Maaike de Waard who touched in a time of 26.82. de Waard’s time sets a new standard for 18 year olds in the Netherlands.

Femke Heemskerk won another event taking the women’s 100 freestyle in a time of 53.19. Heemskerk posted a lifetime best beating her previous best of 53.39.

Kromowidjojo for the second time this evening finished as the runner up winning the silver in a time of 54.20 followed by both Dekker and Michelle Coleman who tie with a time of 54.69.

The men’s sprint events came down to had the better touch. Carl Louis Schwarz took the 50 backstroke in a time of 25.60 followed by Jesse Puts who recorded a 25.63. In the men’s 50 butterfly Johannes Skagius took the gold in a time of 27.94 followed by Timon Evenhuis who touched in a time of 27.95.

Rikke Moller Pedersen had no competition in the women’s 200 breaststroke taking the event in a time of 2:25.08, finishing over six seconds ahead of the next competitor. Sonneie Oezturek won the women’s 200 backstroke in a time of 2:11.33.

Sebstiaan Verschuren took the men’s 200 freestyle in a time of 1:47.81 while Semen Makovich won the men’s 400 IM in a time of 4:19.83.
