COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Swimming today announced the support staff for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Swimming Team at next summer’s Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
Dr. Jim Lynch has been selected as the team physician. He has served in a similar role for Team USA at a variety of major competitions, including the 2015 FINA World Championships. Rounding out the medical staff are athletic trainer Kenan Robinson, massage therapists Kathy Flippin and Cyrus Poitier and chiropractor Dr. Kevin Rindal.
Andy Kershaw, the head coach women’s swimming coach at the University of Miami, will serve as head manager. He worked in the same role at number of international events, including the 2012 Olympic Games and, the 2015 and 2011 FINA World Championships.Stefanie Kerska has been named assistant manager.
Laurel Liberty and Ashley Stern, both on staff for the 2015 FINA World Championships, will serve as open water manager and athletic trainer, respectively.
“Our support staff plays a vital role in the success of Team USA at international events. The expertise in their roles allows our athletes and coaches to focus on competing at the highest level,” USA Swimming National Team Director Frank Busch said. “This group has earned the trust of our staff, athletes and coaches, and I am confident they’ll help prepare our athletes to shine next summer in Rio.”
