USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Maggie Stock Commits to Miami Redhawks

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

2019 Greensboro Futures finalist Maggie Stock has verbally committed to swim at Miami University beginning in the fall of 2021. Stock will be entering her senior year at Homestead High School this fall and she swims club under head coach Justin Max at Summit City Aquatics.

“I’m beyond excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Miami University! Thank you to all of my family, friends, teammates and coaches who have supported me throughout my journey. Go RedHawks!”

In February, Stock competed at the Indiana Girls Sectional Championship at Fort Wayne, where she took home the gold medal in the 100 free (51.96) and the bronze in the 200 IM (2:05.74), qualifying her for the state meet.

A week later, the Homestead High School junior swam the 100 free, 200 IM, and the 200 and 400-free relays at the Indiana Girls State High School Championships. Her prelims 200 IM time of 2:06.74 earned her the final spot in the B-final, later dropping down to 12th place in finals. She touched 13th in both prelims and finals of the 100 free, with a final time of 52.57.

Stock joined Kyra TonsilHalle Weaver, and Katie Walther on the 200 free relay. The women finished 8th overall, with Stock splitting a time of 23.93. Stock anchored Homestead’s 400 free relay in 51.94, helping her team take home the 8th place spot. She swam after Lily KaiserAudrey Crowel, and Weaver.

Stock received USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors in August of 2018.

Last summer, Stock swam at the Futures Championships in Greensboro. She swam the 400 IM, the 50 and 100 free, and the 200 back at the long course meet. She made in back in the C-final in 400 IM and the 100 free, finishing 23rd and 20th, respectively. She placed 52nd in the 50 free and 64th in the 200 back.

She swam the third leg of Summit City Aquatics’s 800 free relay, alongside Kaiser, Crowel, and Weaver. She later anchored the 400 medley relay in 58.50. Shelby Crist swam the backstroke leg, Weaver swam the breast, and Crowel swam the fly.

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 free – 50.99
  • 200 IM – 2:03.98
  • 200 free – 1:52.44
  • 200 back – 2:03.52
  • 100 back 57.10

Stock’s times would have placed her in the B-final in the 200 IM at the 2020 Mid-American Championships. When she joins the RedHawks in the fall of 2021, she will be the team’s 3rd fastest 100 and 200 freestyler behind Camilla Lins de Mello and Ashlyn Underhill. Her ranking in these events make her one of the top options for the 400 and 800 free relay. She will be ranked second in the 200 IM behind Lins de Mello.
