USA Swimming Leadership Runs Virtual Town Hall

Leaders from USA Swimming ran a virtual Town Hall on Wednesday to discuss the organization’s path forward amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and answer questions from members.

The video conference call included USA Swimming Board of Directors Chair Bob Vincent, President and CEO Tim Hinchey, COO Mike Unger, Managing Director of Sport and Development Joel Shinofield and CCO Shana Ferguson, who acted as host.

You can watch the 30-minute video discussion via USA Swimming’s YouTube channel below:

Among the topics discussed was how the pandemic has a few silver linings, including how the organization has increased communication with its members and has become focused on serving the community, the ongoing communication between the staff and Board of Directors as they navigate through the current situation, and how the organization has been watching professional sports and how they deal with the pandemic.

Shinofield also acknowledged the fact that there will likely be a drop in membership with the pandemic and an economic recession incoming, and discussed strategies they can use to work with families to maintain their existing memberships while also gaining new members.
