USA Swimming is bringing a new signature attraction to highlight the Aqua Zone at the U.S. Olympic Trials – Swimming, with the addition of Surf Omaha, a portable indoor surfing ride. The ocean waves will come to the Aqua Zone, where attendees will enjoy testing their skills by surfing or boogie boarding their way through the waves while friends and family watch from the observation deck.
Surf Omaha will be the centerpiece of the 100,000 square-foot Aqua Zone, which takes over the CenturyLink Center Omaha Convention Center throughout the eight-day U.S. Olympic Trials from June 25 – July 3. More than 100,000 attendees are expected to visit the Aqua Zone, a fan festival for all ages that features more than 30 interactive experiences.
“We like the Aqua Zone to always have new and innovative twists to add to the overall experience of the event,” said USA Swimming Chief Marketing Officer, Matt Farrell. “Surf Omaha is a great way to enjoy the water for families and riders of all ages and abilities.”
Featured alongside other water activities, Surf Omaha will have time slots that will be available for pre-registration for individuals, families, swim teams and corporate hospitality. Fans will enjoy daily programming such as open surfing and boogie boarding, lessons, celebrity and Olympian riders and special group opportunities. Merchandise, including lifestyle and surf wear, and food & beverage areas will be part of the attraction.
For Surf Omaha corporate opportunities please contact Matt Farrell at [email protected]. Information on group or individual registration will be available soon on www.usaswimming.org.
The U.S. Olympic Trials – Swimming was a finalist in the Sports Business Journal for “Sports Event of the Year” in 2012. The Aqua Zone is connected to the competition venue to give the perfect blend of Olympic spirit and interactive fun. Fans enjoy experiences like indoor surfing, simulated swimming races, mechanical sharks and Olympian autograph sessions. The Aqua Zone is free and open to the public throughout the U.S. Olympic Trials.
