UNLV’s Jessica Wong is Mountain West Swimmer of the Week

The following is a press release courtesy of the Mountain West Conference:

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. UNLV junior Jessica Wong has been named Mountain West Swimmer of the Week, while Colorado State junior Ariana Milone has earned MW Women’s Diver of the Week honors for competition completed through Monday, January 19. It is the first MW weekly honor for Wong in her career. For Milone, it is the fourth weekly accolade of her career.

 

WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

JESSICA WONG, UNLV

Junior, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada / Crescent Heights HS

  • Led Rebels to a come-from-behind 134-128 dual meet win against UC Santa Barbara on January 17.
  • Recorded two individual event wins and one relay victory.
  • Won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.80 and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:03.18.
  • Finished second in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:07.24.
  • Swam the first leg of the 200-yard medley relay, posting a time of 1:44.54 for the win in the lead-off event.
  • Team was down 104-103 with three events to go, before her win in the 100-fly pushed UNLV ahead 118-108.
  • Swam the next event, earning second-place points in the 200-IM to keep Rebels ahead by one point.

 

WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK

ARIANA MILONE, COLORADO STATE

Junior, The Woodlands, Texas / The Woodlands HS

  • Won two springboard events in the Rams dual meet loss to New Mexico (176-126) on January 17.
  • Posted an NCAA-qualifying score of 287.03 on the 1-meter board for the victory, just a point shy of her season-best and among the top 10 scores in CSU history.
  • Won the 3-meter springboard with a score of 310.95, the fifth-best mark in Ram history and an NCAA zones-qualifier.
