LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com)  UNLV senior Richard Szilagyi has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. This marks his second career WAC weekly honor.

Szilagyi, a senior from Sighisoara, Romania, notched a pair of individual wins to lead to the Rebels to a victory over WAC-foe California Baptist. Szilagyi reeled off a first-place finish in the 100 backstroke (50.13) and also posted the fastest time in the 100 freestyle (45.53) against the Lancers. In addition to his solo victories, the senior also led UNLV to wins in the 200 medley relay (1:29.30) with a 50 back split of 22.70 and in the 200 free relay (1:22.30) behind a 21.17 split to round out the Scarlet and Gray’s season-opening meet.
