UNLV Rebels Sweep WAC Weekly Awards

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV freshman Ogi Maric was named the Men’s Swimmer of the Week from the Western Athletic Conference and junior Jesse Cawley was named the Men’s Diver of the Week, it was announced Thursday.

Maric, a freshman from Zagreb, Croatia, swam the fastest 200 free in the WAC at the UNLV Invite, 1:36.61, his time is two seconds faster than any other WAC swimmer this season. Maric also grabbed first in the 100 IM, 50.06. He helped lead UNLV to a second-place finish in the 800 free relay, 6:41.82, and a third-place finish in the 400 free relay, 3:00.56.

Cawley, a junior from Portland, Ore., placed second in 3-meter diving at the UNLV Invite. He earned a 278.10, only 7.15 points behind the top diver.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: The Rebels will be idle until January 10th when they will hit the road to take on the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos at Campus Pool in Santa Barbara, California.
