Danielle Rocheleau of West Hartford, Connecticut has signed to swim for the University of Vermont Catamounts.
“I am excited to swim for UVM because the team is like a family,” Rocheleau said of her commitment. “When I visited, I automatically felt like I was part of the team. I am looking forward to swimming for Coach Gerry. He is a passionate, enthusiastic coach who gets the most out of his swimmers.”
Rocheleau’s best SCY times include:
50 Freestyle – 24.53
100 Freestyle – 53.21
200 Freestyle – 1:53.35
500 Freestyle – 5:04.59
100 Backstroke – 58.88
200 Backstroke – 2:06.81
200 IM – 2:11.99
Rocheleau currently is a member of the West Hartford Aquatic Team, the club that produced former Vermont swimming standout Colleen Clark, head coach Gerry Cournoyer’s first NCAA qualifier. Rocheleau also swims for her Newington High School swim team, where she holds six of the eight individual swimming records and was a member of two of the three record-setting relays. In addition to all this swimming, Rocheleau also finds time to run for her high school’s varsity outdoor track team. She ran last year as a junior, and she is planning to compete again for the team again this year.
Rocheleau will be taking her versatility to join the strong Vermont team where she will be joining a competitive training group. Although Rocheleau will be swimming with some fast teammates, her best times have the potential to make an impact throughout the season and at her first conference meet next season. Her best 500 Freestyle time would have claimed 8th place at Vermont’s conference meet, the 2014 America East Swimming & Diving Championships. Her best time in the 50 Freestyle would have put her in 16th place, while her 200 Freestyle best time would have claimed 10th place. In the 100 and 200 Backstroke events, Rocheleau’s bests would have placed her in 12th and 6th, respectively.
