University of Tampa’s Jordan Augier Named St. Lucia’s Male Swimmer of the Year

Jordan Augier, a junior at the University of Tampa, has repeated as the St. Lucia Male Swimmer of the Year by the St. Lucia Amateur Swimming Association. 16-year old Thalia Bergasse earned the counterpart Female Swimmer of the Year award.

Augier broke at least three St. Lucia National Records in long course in 2014, including the 50 free (23.43), the 50 back (twice in 26.82), and the 100 back (59.36), with all four swims coming at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Besides placing 21st at the Commonwealth Games in the 100 back, he also earned a finals swim in the 50 backstroke at the Central American and Caribbean Games in November.

Stateside, he was named a CSCAA First-Team Scholar All-American, and a First-Team athletic All-American by swimming on Tampa’s A-final 200 and 400 yard free relays.

On the women’s side, Bergasse was honored for winning three bronze medals at Barbados Nationals in March and setting new National Records in the 1500 free (19:45.96) and the 100 meter backstroke (1:09.85). Bergasse also represented St. Lucia at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games.
