NORMAL, Illinois – The UNI swim and dive team had a successful trip to Illinois over the weekend. After beating Western Illinois 178-57 on Friday, the Panthers defeated Illinois State 174-126 on Saturday. The win over Illinois State was also the Panthers first meet against an MVC opponent this season.
Katie Taylor lead the way for the Panthers with wins in three individual events. Taylor took first in the 200 Free (1:52.91), 100 Free (52.33), and the 200 IM (2:05.06). She was also a part of the first place 200 Medley Relay team.
Kylie Engstrom and Moriah Ross both took home two wins a piece. Engstrom won the two long races in the1000 Free (10:46.70) and the 500 Free (5:16.20). She was also on the first place 400 Free Relay team. Ross meanwhile grabbed wins in the 100 Breast (1:06.09) and the 200 Breast (2:23.18). She was also on the 200 Medley Relay that took first.
Payton Hall and Jordan McCullough also picked up wins against Illinois State. Hall won the 100 Back (58.72) and was on the 200 Medley Relay team. McCullough took first in the 200 Back (2:09.31) and was on the 400 Free Relay team.
The Panthers also picked up wins in both relay events of the day. The 200 Medley Relay of Katie Taylor, Moriah Ross, Payton Hall, and Piper Carroll won with a time of 1:46.88. The 400 Free Relay (3:38.93) of Piper Carroll, Natalia Cerastegui, Jordan McCullough, and Kylie Engstrom also took first.
The Panthers will back back home in Glen Henry Pool next Saturday as they take on Nebraska Omaha. The seniors will be honored as a part of senior day festivities.

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State swimming and diving team dropped its home finale, 174-126, to the visiting UNI Panthers on Saturday at Horton Pool.
IN THE POOL
A trio of Redbirds finished first in their respective events:
- Kierston Farley-Sepe – 200-yard butterfly (2:07.92)
- Katie Tillotson – 50-yard freestyle (25.00)
- Isabel Veliz – 100-yard butterfly (1:00.19)
Additionally, eight more Redbirds posted top-three times in their respective events:
- Kierston Farley-Sepe – 200-yard IM (2:08.87)
- Jensen Keck – 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.09), 200-yard breaststroke (2:26.67)
- Makenna Licking – 200-yard freestyle (1:58.31), 100-yard freestyle (55.31)
- Madyson Morse – 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.17), 200-yard breaststroke (2:29.58)
- Lauren Naeger – 200-yard butterfly (2:13.14), 100-yard butterfly (1:00.68)
- Julia Oostman – 500-yard freestyle (5:19.67)

ON THE BOARDS
Junior Caroline Lecoeur swept the 1- and 3-meter diving events with scores of 265.05 and 292.20, respectively, while Kamryn Blake secured third place in the 3-meter dive (220.13) and fourth in the 1-meter dive (215.33) to finish behind Lecoeur.
UP NEXT
The regular season will conclude for the Redbird swimmers in Evansville next weekend, while the diving squad will wrap up competition at the UIC Diving Invite on Feb. 1. The entire team will then start preparations for the 2020 Missouri Valley Conference Championships, which are set to be held Feb. 19-22 in Columbia, Missouri.
