As the Iowa Girls high school approaches championship season, the undefeated Ames High School girls team leads the Iowa High School Athletic Association. They are currently 10-0 during the regular season. Ames’ stars Sophie Sorensen and Grace Snyder both broke team records this year and lead the team in multiple events. Sorensen also leads the state in the 50 freestyle at 23.73 and the 100 backstroke at 56.55 as a sophomore.
The IHSAA Conference meets are scheduled to begin next week. Regional qualifying begins on October 31 and the Iowa State Diving meet is November 6 and the Iowa Girls State Championship Meet is November 7.
