It was on July 31st, 2012 in London that the world experienced what many thought they would never see, American Michael Phelps was beaten in his signature event on the biggest stage, the culprit, Chad le Clos of South Africa.
The moment to many was unbelievable, especially to le Clos’s father Bert. When being interviewed after his son’s accomplishment he joyful expressed his feelings to the BBC‘s Clare Balding starting the interview by saying, “Unbelievable, unbelievable, unbelievable! I have never been so happy in my life.”
When Balding asked him later in the interview when his son committed himself to swimming and how he got this good Bert said, “He’s unbelievable, he’s committed like you cannot believe. He is the most down to earth beautiful boy you will ever meet in your life.”

And now “Unbelievable!” is the title of a new book that will be released in April. The book will allow swimming fans to gain insight into le Clos’ life, his development as a swimmer and person as well as the support and relationships he built along the way to winning Olympic gold in the 200 butterfly; beating the sport’s most legendary figure in the process.
“Unbelievable!” was written by Chad le Clos with Myan Subrayan. Subrayan is a writer and motivational speaker. He works with top sportspeople and professional teams as a life coach.
