UConn Reveals 2015-2016 Schedule, Looks to Repeat Undefeated Home Slate

STORRS, Conn. — The UConn men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs released their 2015-16 schedules on Tuesday, announcing 15 events and six home meets.

Each of Connecticut’s first three events in the fall will take place at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium, where the two teams combined for a perfect 4-0 mark in dual meets last season. UConn’s season once again gets underway with the women’s program hosting a scrimmage against Yale, CCSU and URI in Storrs on Oct. 16.

The Connecticut Annual Alumni Homecoming Meet (12 p.m.) is set for one day later on Oct. 17, and UConn’s first dual meet of the season will come against Villanova the following weekend (Oct. 24). Both Husky teams notched victories against the Wildcats last season in Philadelphia.

The Huskies’ first road meet will come against Brown on Oct. 31 before UConn travels to State College, Pa. to face Penn State and Princeton (Nov. 13-14). Connecticut will close out the month of November at the Bison Invitational (Nov. 20-22) in Lewisburg, Pa.

UConn will be in action against Rutgers, Yale and Boston University (Dec. 4-5) in its final event of 2015 before opening the new year at the Copa Coqui Invitational (Jan. 5) in San Juan. Last season, the Huskies posted the top combined score at the annual event, totaling 696 points.

Connecticut’s dual meet season concludes with meets against Seton Hall (Jan. 24) and Dartmouth (Jan. 30). The competition against the Green Wave will be Senior Day, as all the UConn seniors will be recognized in a ceremony prior to the meet. The Huskies split against Dartmouth last season, with the women’s team coming away with a victory.

“It is one of the best and most challenging schedules we have ever had,” UConn swimming coach Bob Goldberg said. “The variety and types of meets scheduled will give everyone a great chance to compete.”

The 2016 NCAA Zone A Diving Meet will take place March 7-9 at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. Five Huskies competed at the event last, including junior Taryn Urbanus (Quincy, Mass.), who secured a spot in the 2015 NCAA Women’s Championships after placing in the top-two in both the 1 and 3-meter events. The final event in Storrs next season, the Husky Invitational, is set for Saturday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. The Huskies will then have 11 days off to prepare for the 2016 American Athletic Championships (Feb. 17-20), which take place in Houston.

Both of the 2016 NCAA Championships are set to take place at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. The Women’s Championships will run from March 17-19, while the Men’s Championships (March 24-26) gets underway five days later.
