Two-Time Virginia Swimming LSC Swimmer of the Year Georgia DaCruz has verbally committed to the defending NCAA Division II Champions from Queens University in North Carolina.
DaCruz is primarily a sprint freestyler, butterflier, and IM’er, though over 50 yards she’s got enough speed to contribute on any spot for Queens’ short medley relays.

DaCruz was named the state of Virginia’s Swimmer of the Year for 11-12’s in the 2010-2011 season and for 13-14’s in the 2011-2012 season.
This is the second time in the last few years where Queens has used a sibling connection to snag a swimmer who rightfully could’ve been headed for a big Division I program. DaCruz’s older brother Nate is currently a sophomore middle-distance freestyler for the Royals, and they’ll join powerhouse brother-sister team Caroline and Nick Arakelian.
DaCruz’s best times already would’ve put her into the A-Final in the 100 fly and 200 IM; and the B-Final in the 200 fly and 200 free at the NCAA Division II National Championship meet last season. She also wouldn’t have been far off in the 50 and 100 frees. If DaCruz holds form in her freshman season at the country’s fastest-rising program, she’l be at least a 25-point individual scorer, with an amplified relay impact, in her freshman season of college.
DaCruz trains with the TIDE Swim Team in Virginia Beach and represents Frank W. Cox High School scholastically.
