Two More for Tennessee: Lady Vols Get Pair of Commits

Monday we wrote about Colleen Callahan, but she’s no longer the newest Lady Vol. On Tuesday, Tennessee has added two more recruits: NBAC’s Camryne Morris and Georgia Coastal’s Patricia Forrester.

Morris will be huge for Tennessee, coming in as the 8th ranked recruit in the nation by collegeswimming.com. She’s versatile, strong in the 200 through mile freestyle, with a 4:17 400 IM as well. Her 1:47.5 already likely would give her a spot on Tennessee’s 800 free relay, and her 4:42.7 in the 500 puts her right in striking distance of scoring at NCAAs. Her 16:19 in the mile would have been just outside scoring position as well. She’ll be a strong understudy and great training partner for will-be senior Lindsay Gendron, who has a similar breadth of freestyle skills.

Morris has been sort of under-the-radar in this group of women’s distance swimmers that is coming through the high school ranks right now. Training with the likes of National Champions Gillian Ryan and Allison Schmitt, though, she’s clearly got the credentials. Schmitt even identified Morris as one of NBAC’s future stars in this 20 Questions Tuesday.

In true NBAC fashion, she’s been much better in long course to this point of her career. She has a 2:01 in the 200 free in meters, an 8:35 in the 800, and the best performance a 4:10.00 in the 400 (though that was done when she was 15, other results show that she hasn’t exactly stalled out yet).

Forrester will join the incoming class as well. She’s a 55.0/1:58.8 flyer, who won’t quite fill Kelsey Floyd‘s shoes immediately but will still help build up the fly group after Floyd graduates. She’s a 56/2:03 backstroker with solid freestyle times of 51.2/1:51.7 that will help add depth as well.

Please include rainbows and flowers in every article please. God forbid you actually talk about how a 55.0 100 Flyer doesn’t exactly replace a 51.67 flyer immediately. Maybe we should not time anybody or keep score either. Upward Swimming!

It is just swimming folks…..just swimming! Tennessee is lucky, as would any school be to get a fine young lady to attend their institution. I hope all the recruits have great college swim careers but more importantly, get great educations that will serve them well beyond the 4-5 years they have left to swim. Remember… IT IS JUST SWIMMING!!!

We have seen Miss Forrester swim several times, and she is one determined young lady. We are so happy for her, and we know how lucky TN is to get this fine swimmer. She is a hard worker and she has a strong family history for being a super competitor. You show ’em Patricia!

I dont like the way this article says Forrester wont quite fill Floyd’s shoes– how do you know she wont?

Thank you for saying it! This looks like an article about Morris with Forrester being an after thought. Give the woman a bit more credit than that… Tennessee did.

Could the writing be anymore abysmal?
