A pair of Belarusian men have both gone under the old National Record, and have moved to #2 and #3 in the world, in the final on Wednesday of the men’s 100 meter butterfly at the Belarus Open.
Eugene Tsurkin won the race in 51.44, and Pavel Sankovich took 2nd in 51.57, both of which went under the old National Record of 51.65 (belonging to Tsurkin from the 2103 World Championships).

This is an extension of Tsurkin’s range, coming up from his specialty the 50 fly where he is the defending European Champion and World University Games Champion. He failed to make his way out of the semi-finals in this 100 fly at the 2014 European Championships, coming in behind Sankovich, who won the bronze medal.

Tsurkin was tied 7th at the 2013 world swimming championships and he did make it out of the semis. he went 51.65
Just curious but why is it Eugene Tsurkin? I thought it was Yauheni or Yauhen Tsurkin?
