On Saturday night in Laval 12 year old Eric Tong set his second Canadian age group record this time in the 100 freestyle.
Tong, who broke the 50 freestyle record on Friday night, led off the Richmond Rapids 4 x 100 freestyle relay posting a time of 56.75, setting the Canadian record for the 11-12 age group.
Tai Long Singh of the Winskill Dolphins put together two gold medal performances bringing his win total in Laval to five. Singh and Ruslan Gaziev of Etobicoke went head to head in both the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle.
Singh took the 100 backstroke in a time of 57.80 while Gaziev finished second in a time of 59.05. Singh went on to win the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:54.31 followed by Gaziev who posted a 1:55.32.
Kenora’s Gabe Mastromatteo dominated the 13 year old boys 200 breaststroke recording a time of 2:23.99 finishing more then 10 seconds ahead of the field.
One of the most surprising results of the evening saw James Guest of Pointe-Claire took the boy’s 17-18 year old 200 breaststroke winning over James Dergousoff of the Chena Swim Club who represented Canada at the Pan American Games.
Guest posted a 2:17.81 followed by Dergousoff who recorded a 2:19.63.
Edmonton Keyano leads the overall team competition with 1230.50 points with the Pointe-Claire Swim Club not far behind with 1224.50.
