I think Gemmel/Madden will be very even with Throssel/Pallister. But it is the difference between Callaghan/Weinstein who will lead and then the anchor of Titmus that will give a fairly big difference.

At the 2024 USA Swimming training camp, I would love to see a race between Kate Douglass and Lilly King in the women’s 100 meter breaststroke since Kate Douglass scratched the aforementioned event at the 2024 USA Swimming Olympic Team Trials.

He cares about the number of Instagram followers the UVa swimmers get? Priorities Tod, priorities.

This is the new game of collegiate athletics.

If you don’t care about your athletes’ business interests, they’re going to find a program that does.

He’s a numbers guy. Of course he’s interested in the numbers

I listened to Missy Franklin’s and Katie Hoff’s podcast yesterday while working out and I listened to the episode with DeSorbo. The guy was an accountant at Deloitte prior to becoming the assistant at UNC-Wilmington. He is very good with numbers. It is also a good podcast, and I typically don’t like podcasts.

200 frees are pretty finicky. In a relay, overswim the first 50 because you’re excited and you’re toast. While the Aussie’s seem dominate on paper, like Todd said, they have the pressure of executing. If they don’t swim as a team and swim smart, the door will be open for others to take advantage.

I don’t know the answer to this, but do the Aussies have 6 girls (2 prelims only) to take some of the work load off their 2 stars?

Yes. Australia’s 5th and 6th swimmers for the relay tied in 1:56.22. That’s 0.04 slower than Claire Weinstein who came 2nd.

I’m sure USA Swimming is more worried about China in the W 4 x 200 FR-R and the prospects of a silver medal.

Nothing is guaranteed so I get this answer… but also be honest: If Rohan Taylor was asked about the men’s 4×100 freestyle relay and his response was “we won last year and the Americans are under pressure to perform” would you accept that? I’m certain he would be mocked for that.

A major point of emphasis at the USA Swimming training camp, relay exchanges. Practice! Practice! Practice!

USA Track and Field needs to take this advice. The USA Men’s 4×100 seems to have issues getting the baton around the track more often than not.

Very informative on SCY and LCM! His messaging is so strong, you get indications of how he communicates with his swimmers.
