BOSTON – Jackie House, Hally Laney and Mina Poppas were named to the 2022-23 America East All-Academic Team for their excellence in and out of the pool. The conference made the announcement on Thursday afternoon. The Catamounts received the second most nominations in the conference behind only New Hampshire.

House, a Madison, Wisconsin native, earned three America East Female Swimmer of the Week honors. She was also named America East Female Most Outstanding Swimmer at the 2023 America East Championship, setting a Vermont Varsity record in the 100 freestyle. At the 2023 America East Championship, House also received All-Conference honors in the 200 free, 500 free and the 800 free relay. Out of the pool she has registered a 3.55 GPA in Chemistry.
Laney, a Decatur, Georgia native, earned America East Female Swimmer of the Week on one occasion this season. She also earned 2023 America East All-Conference honors sweeping the 100 and 200 fly events. In the 100 fly she set a Vermont Varsity record with a time of 55.34. Her time of 2:02.43 was in the 200 fly was also a Vermont Varsity record. She was also a part of the Vermont Varsity 400 medley relay record team at the 2023 America East Championship. In the classroom she earned a 3.89 GPA in Elementary Education with a focus in K-6.
Poppas, a Hilo, Hawaii native, served as a co-captain for the team this year and was an integral part of their success earning America East All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season. She served as the anchor of the winning 800 free relay team at the 2023 America East Championship where she also finished eighth in the 100 free. At the 2023 America East Championship she was a part of the 400 free relay that set a Vermont Varsity Record. Outside of the pool she has earned a 3.62 GPA in Biology.
