Texas A&M men’s swimming and diving seek to add two more wins to the book with a trip to Florida taking on Florida Atlantic University and Indian River State College.
The Aggies are currently 1-1 for the season after a dominating victory against the University of Incarnate Word taking wins in 11 of the 13 events that night. The men won the meet 135-98 and look to do the same against the two Florida teams.
Head coach Jay Holmes said:
“I expect a good competition against these schools. The fact that the team is being put in a different environment allows us to see how our team works in different situations.”
The men will first take on the Florida Atlantic Owls in Boca Raton, FL at 2:00 pm on Thursday. This will be FAU’s first official home meet of the season.
After a day of Florida training, Texas A&M will end its trip with a duel against the 2014 NJCAA National Champions: Indian River State College. The Aggies will take on Indian River on Saturday at 11:00 am in Fort Pierce, FL.
The last time the Aggies faced either of these teams was at the start of the 2010 season. The Aggies defeated both teams with a 175-121 victory against the Owls in Boca Raton and a 167-100 victory against Indian River at Fort Pierce.
But this Florida trip is not only a competitive trip for the team – it will also be a team building experience. The team will spend their Friday in Florida training at Indian River State College. Holmes states that going on this trip will provide the team a chance to spend a great deal of time together. “These five days in Florida will allow our guys to bond and become more of a team.”
