Texas 6A State Finalist Addie Orris Commits to U.S. Air Force Academy

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Addie Orris of Austin, TX has announced her decision to swim for the United State Air Force Academy beginning in the fall of 2021. Orris is a senior at Vandergrift High School and she swims year-round at the Austin Swim Club.

I’m excited to announce my commitment to swim and study at the US Air Force Academy! Thank you to my family, friends, and coaches for helping me along the way! Go Falcons!! ✈
In February, Orris competed at the UIL 6A Girls Texas State Championships. She swam the 100 free and the 200 IM and she was a part of Vandergridt’s 200 free relay. She earned spots in the B-finals of both races, touching 14th in prelims of the 200 IM and 10th in the 100 free. In finals, Orris moved up to 12th place in the 200 IM, taking 2.14 seconds off of her prelims time, and she touched 11th in the 100 free. She led off her school’s 200 free relay in finals, going a personal best 50 free time of 24.01.
This was the first time Orris made it back to finals at the state level. She did not qualify for the meet freshmen and sophomore year, and she touched 18th in the 100 free and 17th in the 200 free junior year.

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 back – 58.25
  • 200 back – 2:04.48
  • 100 free – 52.03
  • 200 free – 1:51.81
  • 200 IM – 2:06.49

Orris is a top recruit for the Air Force Academy, as she would have been one of their top freestyle and IMers during the 2020-2021 season. She would have been their fastest 200 IMer, her best time being 0.23 seconds faster than top swimmer Corinne Yorkman‘s. She would have been their second fastest in the 200 free behind Sefilina Maile and their third-fastest in the 200 free behind Maile and Kara Gavin.

Tyryn Empresmsilapa, Sophie Boulware, Lauren Unruh, June Phang, Ella Gross, and Alex Clark have already announced their decision to swim for the Air Force Academy’s class of 2025.
