Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Juan Ceresa, a senior at Lyndon B. Johnson Early College High School in Austin, Texas, has announced his commitment to the University of Michigan’s class of 2024. He will join the Wolverines next fall with fellow commits Alexander Capizzo, Ansel Froass, Bence Szabados, Jake Mitchell, James LeBuke, and Wyatt Davis.
Ceresa wrapped up his prep career at the 2020 Texas UIL 5A State Swimming and Diving Meet where he won the 500 free (4:27.21) and was third in the 200 free (1:38.25). His 50 free leadoff in the 200 free relay (20.85, the fastest in the final) helped the Pool Jags to place second and his anchor (45.33) on the end of the 400 free relay helped LBJ secure the runner-up spot. As a junior, he had been 4th in the 500 (4:34.94) and 5th in the 200 (1:41.97). Ceresa will leave Austin with team records in the 200/500 free and all three relays.
Ceresa does his year-round swimming with Longhorn Aquatics. He is a Summer Juniors qualifier in the 200/500 free and a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 200 fly. Ceresa swam all three events at 2019 Winter Juniors West and came in 22nd in the 200 free. He earned a PB in the 200 fly. Two weeks after High School States where he landed a lifetime best in the 200 free, he competed at College Station Sectionals (SCY prelims, LCM finals) and updated his PBs in the SCY 50 free, 500 free, and 100 fly and LCM 50 free and 100 free. He placed 21st in the 50 free, 23rd in the 100 free, 7th in the 200 free, and 7th in the 400 free. At Des Moines Futures last summer, he came in 7th in the 200 free and 7th in the 400 free.
Top SCY times:
- 500 free – 4:25.86
- 200 free – 1:38.25
- 100 free – 45.68
- 50 free – 21.19
- 200 fly – 1:51.81
- 100 fly – 50.84
Michigan has traditionally excelled at mid-distance freestyle. At the 2020 B1G Men’s Championships, the Wolverines swept the podium in the 500 with senior Felix Auboeck (4:10.14), sophomore Kevin Callan (4:11.79), and junior Ricardo Vargas (4:11.80). In addition, junior William Roberts came in 8th (4:24.23) and sophomore Spencer Carl scored in the B final. Auboeck and Callan also scored in the A final of the 200 free along with junior teammate Luiz Gustavo Borges. Ceresa is only a tick out of scoring range at the conference level. It took 4:25.07/1:37.00 to get second swims in those events at 2020 B1Gs.

After watching what is currently going on in MI, it quite possibly will be a long time before anyone in MI gets in a pool…
If he lead off the relay in 20.85 wouldn’t that be his fastest time? Not a 21.19
Excellent! Congratulations!
Welcome! Go Blue!
