TCU Swim & Dive Inks Three During Late Signing Period

TCU swimming and diving announced the signing of João Paulo Andrade, Matt Brewer and Sydney Olsen during the late signing period.

 “I’m really excited about the addition of these future Frogs,” said head coach Richard Sybesma. “They are going to be highly valuable pieces to our puzzle. We could not be more thrilled to have them as Horned Frogs.”

 João Paulo Andrade (Brazil; Freestyle/Backstroke)

Andrade is a three-time Brazilian Junior National Champion. He has produced personal-best (converted) times of 4:24.6 in the 500 free, 1:37.8 in the 200 free, 1:46.4 in the 200 back, and 49.3 in the 100 back.

 Matt Brewer (San Angelo, Texas; San Angelo Central HS; Freestyle)

Brewer comes to TCU from San Angelo where he most recently earned bronze in the 50 free at the Texas 6A State Championships with a personal-best and school-record time of 20.69. Brewer also anchored the Bobcats’ school-record breaking 400 free relay at the meet and posted a personal best in the 100 free with a time of 45.70.

 Sydney Olsen (Edina, Minn.; Edina HS; Freestyle)

Olsen will join the Frogs from Edina, Minn. where she recently took home fourth place in the 200 free at the Minnesota State Championships with a personal-best time of 1:51.99. Olsen also boasts a personal-best time of 52.89 in the 100 free.

 The latest three signees will join Derek Bowers, Kevin Chao, Sally Clough, Katelyn Kenchel, Chloe Miller and Kaeleigh Rice in the incoming freshman class.
