Swiss Swimming has announced the 10 athletes who have successfully achieved the requirements of the first phase of qualification and will be representing their country at the 2013 Universiade in Kazan, Russia.
The team will include several swimmers who have or are currently training at NCAA schools.
On the men’s side the University of Virginia will be well represented by current team member Yannick Kaser who will be swimming the 100 and 200 breaststroke along with recent alum David Karasek who will be swimming the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle and the 200 IM.
Georgia Tech’s team co-captain Nico van Duijn will be swimming the 50, 100 and 200 butterfly.
Erik van Dooren who was once a University of Iowa commit (though never ended up swimming in the NCAA) will be competing in the 50 and 100 freestyle.
Other male team members include Jean-Baptiste Febo (200 freestyle), Alexandre Liess (200 butterfly), Jeremy Desplanches (400 IM) and Martin Schweizer (50 breaststroke).

On the women’s side there were two athletes selected. SMU’s Danielle Villars will be swimming the 100 butterfly while Martina van Berkel will be swimming the 200 butterfly.
The competition will take place in Kazan, Russia from July 10th-17th.
Is ryan lochte not going to compete ?!?
Serena, no he won’t be at the World University Games. He’ll be at the World Championships. Also, this is the Swiss roster, not the American roster.
